Hawaii Film Partners and Frederator Studios team for Ape Escape
At a recent KidScreen Summit held in New York City, Hawaii Film Partners and Frederator Studios, the folks behind Nickelodeon’s Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! and The Fairly OddParents, got to show off some of their TV projects to an international audience. Included in the mix was Ape Escape, the animated series based on Sony PlayStation’s Ape Escape video game. The series got its first chance on the air via Nickelodeon’s Nicktoons last summer, in July 2009. The series stars Spector, Future Ruler of the World, and his army of minions as they repeatedly, if not awkwardly, try to take over the planet – all thanks to the wonderful pipo-helmet. Robot & Monster getting ready for Nickelodeon
As promised nearly 8 months ago, Nickelodeon is preparing itself for a new hit animated series called Robot & Monster: Best Friends Forever. Dave Pressler, a designer in the television and toy industry, announced recently on his blog that Robot & Monster is moving into production, with a first episode scheduled to hit airwaves in the fall of 2011. The CG animated series will follow a pair of buddies, Robot and Monster, naturally, who remain friends despite their vast differences. Kinda sweet, if you think about it

Fanboy and Chum Chum to debut on Nickelodeon UK
Folks in the US have been enjoying the new CG animated series Fanboy and Chum Chum for a few months now, which has made those in the UK a bit jealous. Hoping to even the score, Nickelodeon now promises they’ll be bringing the hit series over seas for all to enjoy! This gift comes along with the soon-to-debut new logo for Nick UK, as well as new episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants, The Troop, and Penguins of Madagascar. (more… )
The Last Airbender’s new trailer
Last week, theaters welcomed Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief to the box office; and warmly, we might add. More importantly to us, however, was that the film included the newtrailer to M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming film The Last Airbender – longer than the trailer shown during the Super Bowl. The story, based on Nickelodeon’s Avatar The Last Airbender, tells the tale of Aang, a 12-year-old boy (played by Noah Ringer) who provides the last hope for restoring harmony to a land consumed by chaos. Nickelodeon scores with The Penguins of Madagascar President’s Day special
Last week, Nickelodeon debuted The Penguins of Madagascar President’s Day special, Dr. Blowhole’s Revenge, earning the top ratings spot for the evening. The episode featured special guest star Neil Patrick Harris, star of “How I Met Your Mother”, as the penguins’ long-time nemesis out for revenge and to finally conquer the world. Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and Private face off against the malevolent Dr. Blowhole, attempting to foil his plans. The evil dolphin aims to kidnap King Julien, who Dr. Blowhole mistakenly thinks is Skipper’s best friend. Take a look at a clip of the episode right here (more… )
Happy Chinese New Year Kai-Lan, Year of the Tiger week
From Monday through Friday next week, February 22nd through February 26th, Nickelodeon will help celebrate the Chinese New Year with brand new episodes of the hit series Ni Hao, Kai-Lan. The week-long marathon event will be dubbed Year of the Tiger week, with each episode airing at 1:30pm. On Friday’s episode, Kai-Lan teaches a valuable lesson to Rintoo the Tiger; taking turns. And, if you’ve ever tried to teach a tiger how to take turns before, you know how valuable it can be to be successful!!! (more… )
UP, Prep and Landing big winners at this years Annie Awards
February 6th saw the 37th Annual Annie Awards ceremony in LA, a celebration of animated talent. We learned of the nominations a few weeks ago, and now the results are in. The big winners of the night: Up was named Best Animated Feature. The holiday special Prep and Landing took the award for Best Animated Television Production. The award for Best Home Entertainment Production went to Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder, and Robot Chicken: Star Wars 2.5 was picked as Best Animated Short Subject. The Nickelodeon and DreamWorks series, Penguins of Madagascar, was named Best Animated Television Production for Children. Check out the full list of winners (more… )
Beyblade: Metal Fusion to Nickelodeon UK
Just a few days ago, Nickelodeon UK formally acquired the TV rights to over 50 episodes of Beyblade: Metal Fusion from Nelvana Enterprises. In an effort to ramp up the action block of their NickToons network, the company will launch the new Beyblade series this September, filling in nicely with the other toons. The anime series, co-produced by Nelvana and d-rights and created by Tatsunoko, was originally known in Japan as Metal Fight Beyblade when it debuted last April. This is a sequel of the original Beyblade series. (more… )
