One Piece from Shonen Jump

Monkey D. Luffy is an adventurous boy, on his life-long dream to become the king of the pirates. After gaining supernatural abilities by eating a magical fruit, Luffy was finally on his way, after the ultimate treasure - One Piece. He joined with a ragtag crew called the Straw Hats, and would later team with Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Tony Tony Chopper, Nico Robin, Franky, and Brook. The series is produced by a super team of manga and anime, Eiichiro Oda, Viz Media, Toei Animation, and Shonen Jump. It has appeared on 4Kids, Cartoon Network, dozens of video games, and a number of DVDs, as well as totaling more than 400 episodes so far.

New One Piece episodes set sail

The adventure is not over yet, there’s still more treasure to be had!  The super teams responsible for One Piece (Funimation Entertainment, Toei Animation Co., Shueisha, Fuji Television Network) are teaming up to bring new episodes of the manga-based, pirate anime to the U.S. and Canada.  Beginning this Saturday, August 29th, new episodes will stream online at www.onepieceofficial.com an hour after they first appear in Japan, with new episodes to continue airing every week.

Toei Animation is working to bring Latin America fans of anime a whole new line of products. They will be working with Panini and Chenson in Mexico to produce Dragonball Z magnets and Saint Seiya backpacks; with Cordez and Cardebras in Brazil to produce Dragonball Z bags and One Piece notebooks; with Corp. Industries Plasticas in Peru to produce Dragon Ball folders; and with Global Partners, Creative Hats, and Distribuidora Latapy in Argentina to produce binders, sunglasses, and skateboards for Dragon Ball Z, One Piece and Saint Seiya.

One Piece: Second Season, First Voyage

The second season of the animated series One Piece is soon to be ready for your home DVD players. Funimation will release One Piece: Second Season, First Voyage on DVD in just a few weeks; June 30th. The toon is the collective work of Eiichiro Oda, Shonen Jump, Shueisha, Viz Media, and a lovable collection of pirates like super-stretchy Monkey D. Luffy.

Funimation Entertainment will soon begin simulcasting One Piece online in the US and Canada after striking a deal with Toei Animation, Shueisha, and Fuji Television Network. The toon will feature English subtitles, so you can watch, and read, up on your favorite pirate crew. It’s hard to believe they haven’t caught up with that treasure yet, but at least now, I can tune in to see for myself!

One Piece treasure found in France?

There’s still One Piece treasure out there, and Toei Animation Co. thinks it might be in France! …that’s assuming the treasure is actually made up of t-shirts, DVDs, sneakers and a bunch of otehr cool merchandise for Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate pals. V.I.P. is bringing all sorts of items and offerings to various European locations, including France and Belgium, so be on the look out for treasures!

One Piece Unlimited Cruise: Episode 2 for WII

Check out this Japanese trailer for the upcoming game, One Piece Unlimited Cruise: Episode 2, for the Nintendo Wii.  The title comes out at the end of February in Japan, and so far has no schedule outside of the country.  But here’s to hoping!

Jolly Rabbit sets sail

Jolly Rabbit

Jolly Rabbit looks like a happy lil guy, doesn’t he? Turns out this pirate-themed hare is moving on over to the CBBC in the UK and ABC TV in Australia.  This series, made by Animation Collective, revolves around the adventures of Jolly Rabbit, a lively teenage rabbit that navigates the seas with his pals, searching for his long-lost lucky rabbit’s foot.  All the while battling the villainous Captain Squid, the man responsible for taking Jolly’s left leg in the first place — only now, he wants the right one, too.  I’ve never seen an episode, but I like pirate-themed shows, like One Piece.  If you’ve seen it, let us know what you think!

One Piece’s new site hits France

One Piece

The official French site for One Piece has gotten a gum gum facelift. Toei Animation Europe launched a new version of the anime-based site just this week, featuring all new …features!  Quizes, games, wallpapers, videos, series info, character backgrounds, etc.  The site is quite popular in France, with a large following for the series — One Piece is televised in France on the DTT Channel Virgin 17.
