Cartoon Network’s Action Friday features Ben 10, Generator Rex, and The Clone Wars
Action fans, prepare for liftoff. Cartoon Network’s Friday night lineup is so jam-packed with cartoon goodness, it’s difficult to believe it fits in a single evening. It all starts off with Johnny Test at 6pm, in Johnny Grow Your Own Monster. At 6:30, we get Adventure Time repeats City of Thieves and Witch’s Garden, immediately followed by the second part of Total Drama Island’s Not So Happy Campers and Batman: Brave and the Bold’s Mystery in Space. Then? It’s prime time! The main event starts at 8pm with Ben 10 Ultimate Alien’s Fused and Generator Rex’s Breach at 8:30pm. The 9-10pm hour leading up to Adult Swim is filled with Star Wars: The Clone Wars, showcasing Hostage Crisis and Holocron Heist. I’m out of breath just writing this up!! (more… )

Warner Bros.’ Young Justice brings DC Comics to Cartoon Network
There’s been a number of super hero related toons over the years, and lately it seems like more and more of the comic book flock are heading to the animated world. Young Justice made it’s animated debut at this year’s Comic-Con 2010, and the Warner Bros. toon is sure to shake up the ground of Cartoon Network when it starts up this fall. Teenage heroes like Robin, Superboy, Kid Flash, Miss Martian, Artemis, and Aqualad fill out the Young Justice roster, though producers claim that wont necessarily be the same lineup at the end of the year; supposedly, some will be cut, some new ones will be added, and some will have lost the fight against evil. Treehouse celebrates Dora the Explorer’s 10th anniversary this Sunday
On Sunday, August 15th, Treehouse and the whole of Corus Entertainment will proudly celebrate Dora the Explorer’s 10th anniversary. The key to the celebration will be the debut of the primetime TV movie Dora’s Big Birthday Adventure at 6pm. The hour long special will also be airing on Nickelodeon in the US, so if you have a satellite that can pick up both channels, feel free to switch back and forth! Special guests include: Rosie Perez, John Leguizamo, and Hector Elizondo, amongst others. Even at ten years old, Dora shows no signs of slowing down! The iconic animated diva, created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh, and Eric Weiner, raked in about $2.5 billion in sales, this year alone. That could buy a lot of birthday presents! (more… )

Disney continues Phineas and Ferb summer tour with Nerds of a Feather
Just days ago, ToonBarn broke the news that Disney XD and the Disney Channel will be showcasing two new episodes of Phineas and Ferb this summer. The first, called Summer Belongs to You, hit TVs the week of August 2nd. Now, Disney is promising to bring both Phineas and Ferb back for a whole new additional special episode! This second new episode, Nerds of a Feather, boasts it’s own set of special stars, including guest animator/writer Seth MacFarlane (of Family Guy fame) and filmmaker Kevin Smith. When can you catch it? The premiere is Monday, August 16th at 8p on Disney XD, set to later replay on the Disney Channel Friday, August 27th. (more… )

Disney pulls Beauty and the Beast 3D from the lineup
With the bump up in timing for the release of Monsters, Inc. 2, the sequel to Pixar’s ridiculously popular 2001 hit, Walt Disney Pictures has done it’s best to keep fans happy. But not everyone was made happy with the recent announcement, as it also included some bad news: Beauty and the Beast 3D, the three-dimensional re-release of Disney’s 1991 traditional cel animation story, has been pulled from the lineup. ToonBarn first reported the news of BatB3D nearly two years ago, and we’ve been anxiously awaiting an update ever since we learned of Beauty and the Beast’s upcoming blu-ray release. The 3D film originally had a 2010 release, then reports came out that it would hit theaters in 2011. Now that it is off the official calendar, fans are afraid the project is squashed for good. First 4 Figures brings Sonic Mini Figure 6-Pack Collection to stores
He’s fast – incredibly fast – but First 4 Figures still managed to get a good look at him. That turns out to be some pretty good news to us, as now we can get our hands on some sweet figurines! The toy company has just announced a set of six PVC figures from Sega’s Sonic franchise. The grouping, called the Sonic Mini Figure 6-Pack Collection, is set to hit stores next month, with a price tag of around $30. The models stand about 2 inches tall, with a full representation of the Sonic the Hedgehog gang, including; Classic Sonic, Amy, Knuckles, Super Sonic, Tails and Metal Sonic – all complete in a collectible box! Pixar and Disney deliver Monsters, Inc. 2 early
Still riding high on the “monster” success of Toy Story 3, Disney and Pixar are aiming to re-energize another franchise in their portfolio with the launch of Monsters Inc. 2. We first got word of a Monsters, Inc sequel last summer, when rumors were flowing out of the Magic Kingdom. Then, a few weeks after the original film was released on Blu-ray, Disney and Pixar finally made it official and announced they were working on the project, with a November 16th, 2012 release date. But they’re not done making changes yet! We’re now getting news that the second Monsters Inc title will be hitting theaters a full two weeks earlier, on November 2, 2012. Who’s ready? Mike Wazowski!
