The Super Hero Squad Show season finale scores big
Last night, Cartoon Network aired the season finale to Marvel’s The Super Hero Squad Show. While reports are still early, everything seems to indicate the episode pulled in fantastic ratings, as I’m sure a number of you reading this could attest to. With the success of the finale, it’d be easy to assume the show will be back for more (and more!) seasons on Cartoon Network, starring Disney’s superhero lineup of Iron Man, the Fantastic Four, Thor, Captain America, Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine and more. Batman 3, The Dark Knight suits up again
What?! There’s going to be a third Batman film, to follow up after The Dark Knight?? OK, OK, I know. It’s not exactly blockbuster information to think there will be a Batman 3 in theaters after the first two amazingly successful films. Everyone knew it was coming, but this past week is the first time it was confirmed people were working on it. When we learned there was development on the Superman movie franchise, we got details that director Christopher Nolan was hard at work on (Dark Knight 2?) Batman 3. Great news for fans superhero films; Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Green Lantern… whether it’s Warner Bros.’ DC Comics or Disney’s Marvel Comics, the film list continues to grow, making comic book fans happy. Toei plans for the return of Sailor Moon
SailorMoon is a classic anime adventure, and remains one of the most popular toon series of all time. It has been credited as popularizing the idea of teaming magical girls, revisited in so many other series; PowerPuff Girls, Winx Club, etc. The girl team of Sailor Soldiers or Sailor Scouts can transform into heroines named for the moon and planets (Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, etc) and are destined to defender a kingdom that once spanned the solar system, using their magical powers to fight evil. Now, Toei Animation is partnering with Backstage to re-launch the anime series in Italy. Mediaset has already acquired the TV rights, ready to air the first season this fall, joining other Toei toons, like Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, and One Piece. (more… )

Generator Rex, sneak peek of Cartoon Network’s new series
Lucky fans tuning into Star Wars: The Clone Wars last night on Cartoon Network were treated to a special sneak peek of one of their upcoming shows; Generator Rex. Along with Sym-Bionic Titan, Generator Rex will debut in a few weeks; a product of Man of Action, the folks behind the popular Ben 10 franchise. We’ve been waiting for this one for a while, so we are beyond pumped to finally check it out. Infected by microscopic molecular-altering nanites, 15-year-old Rex has the ability to grow incredible machines out of his body. Recruited by an organization called Providence, Rex travels the world investigating a host of biological mutations that were created by the same nanites that give Rex his powers. Beyblade: Metal Fusion to Nickelodeon UK
Just a few days ago, Nickelodeon UK formally acquired the TV rights to over 50 episodes of Beyblade: Metal Fusion from Nelvana Enterprises. In an effort to ramp up the action block of their NickToons network, the company will launch the new Beyblade series this September, filling in nicely with the other toons. The anime series, co-produced by Nelvana and d-rights and created by Tatsunoko, was originally known in Japan as Metal Fight Beyblade when it debuted last April. Disney’s Jake and the Never Land Pirates
Disney Television Animation is bringing fans a new cartoon series, mixing CG animation with the world of Peter Pan. The results; Jake and the Never Land Pirates. The original music-filled series follows Jake and his pirate friends (and parrot!) as they travel through Never Land in search of lost treasures. The group learns teamwork and tests their problem solving skills to outsmart Captain Hook and his ever-present lackey, Smee. And since Captain Hook is one of the scariest cartoon characters ever, you know it wont be easy! Look out for the series either late this year or early next. (more… )
