Chorion’s Mr. Men and Little Miss characters slam dunk the NBA
Just the other day, ToonBarn broke the story of Betty Boop teaming up with the United Football League in an odd mix of sports and animation. Today’s news continues in that mentality, with Chorion’s Mr. Men and Little Miss line connecting with the National Basketball Association. Working with Junk Food Clothing Company, Little Miss Sunshine and other characters from the Cartoon Network toon will appear on shirts, tees, and other pieces of clothing, coupled with NBA and team logos. The products will be available at the NBA Store in New York City, local stadiums and arenas, online retailers, and most department stores for the 2010-2011 NBA season. (more… )

Constantin Films hopes to out-Disney the House of Mouse with Tarzan
A human child raised in the jungle by great apes, rejecting civilization for the call of the wild. SpongeBob? No. Batman? No. …Stewie? No! We’re talking about Tarzan here. Created by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Tarzan has seen many different animated forms and spinoffs, from “George of the Jungle” to Disney’s animated Tarzan film from ten years ago. Now, Constantin Films is developing a new CG animated adaption of Tarzan, in full movie-standard 3D, with Ambient Entertainment handling the animation. G.I. Joe: Renegades hits The Hub this October
Hasbro Studios has big plans for the upcoming launch of their new network, The Hub. The channel, a joint project along with Discovery channel set to launch on October 10, 2010, will be a cartoon fan’s dream, with dozens of classic and new animated series. Of special note will be a revival of two of the more famous franchises; Transformers and GI Joe will be reborn as Transformers: Prime and G.I. Joe: Renegades. Branded as renegades for crimes they did not commit, a heroic group of young G.I.s is forced to “turn fugitive” as they battle to clear their names, and expose the evil that is Cobra Industries — a seemingly benevolent mega-corporation covertly controlled by a rogues gallery intent on creating a New World Order. The all-star voice cast will include a lineup of Charlie Adler, Lee Majors, Clancy Brown, Jason Marsden, Johnny Messner, and Kevin Michael Richardson, to name a few. Cartoon Network says farewell to Chowder in Chowder Grows Up
For nearly three years and 49 episodes, Chowder has made an impact on the animated world. During its run, the Cartoon Network series, created by C. H. Greenblatt, has made everyone in, and out, of Marzipan City proud. Unfortunately, like Batman the Brave and the Bold, the Chowder series recently announced an ending, pegging last week as it’s last episode. Though the finale will air again and again, the 30 minute “Chowder Grows Up” left fans laughing at the good times, but fondly (and perhaps tearfully) saying good bye. 20 years in the future, Chowder is still reluctant to grow up & leave his immature ways behind. He takes the responsibility of training his own apprentice and being a master chef cause everyone he loves will be unable to move on with their lives if he does not. Chowder selects a turtle apprentice, And in the end, and has 50 babies with Panini. Check out a clip of the finale, and let us know your favorite Chowder moments! (more… )
