Dragon Ball: Origins 2 out this summer

Namco Bandai has announced it is returning to the Origins part of the Nintendo DS Dragon Ball genre with this summer’s Dragon Ball: Origins 2. The sequel to the original will feature stylus-controlled action, but unlike some of Nintendo’s other games (we’re looking at you, Zelda!) you have the option to switch to the more traditional buttons if you’d like. A two-player co-op mode is included, so you wirelessly can pair with a pal to take down the Red Ribbon Army. This Game Republic developed game, also known as Dragon Ball DS 2: Charge! Red Ribbon Army, is based on Akira Toriyama’s popular manga and anime franchise. Toei plans for the return of Sailor Moon

SailorMoon is a classic anime adventure, and remains one of the most popular toon series of all time. It has been credited as popularizing the idea of teaming magical girls, revisited in so many other series; PowerPuff Girls, Winx Club, etc. The girl team of Sailor Soldiers or Sailor Scouts can transform into heroines named for the moon and planets (Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, etc) and are destined to defender a kingdom that once spanned the solar system, using their magical powers to fight evil. Now, Toei Animation is partnering with Backstage to re-launch the anime series in Italy. Mediaset has already acquired the TV rights, ready to air the first season this fall, joining other Toei toons, like Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, and One Piece. (more… )

Just a few days ago, Nickelodeon UK formally acquired the TV rights to over 50 episodes of Beyblade: Metal Fusion from Nelvana Enterprises. In an effort to ramp up the action block of their NickToons network, the company will launch the new Beyblade series this September, filling in nicely with the other toons. The anime series, co-produced by Nelvana and d-rights and created by Tatsunoko, was originally known in Japan as Metal Fight Beyblade when it debuted last April. Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products, a segment of Nickelodeon which is a segment of MTV (these companies are monsters!) have recently announced a plan to distribute Avatar: The Legend of Aang branded magazines throughout Germany. The plan promises Avatar fans (no, not that Avatar) can get their hands on the magazines through 2011. Each special magazine comes with add-ons and tie-ins, including a DVD with episodes of the popular anime-like animated series. So, how can you get them? …aside from living in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, or elsewhere with access to eBay? Local kiosks, newsstands, and supermarkets will be stocking the books, ready for eager fans to get their hands on the books. (more… )
