Nickelodeon stocks the iTunes store with SpongeBob SquarePants’ iSponge
SpongeBob has been a lot of places in his eleven years; Nick TV, video games, audio CDs, the big theatrical screen, etc. It only makes sense in this Apple-friendly “i” world that we’d see more and more of the porous one hitting the downloadable world of applications. Nickelodeon UK obviously completely agrees as the network’s Digital Group recently packaged together and launched the latest thing in the iTunes store: iSponge. SpongeBobs new app, made perfectly for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, has a number of under-the-sea features, including an exclusive SpongeBob SquarePants game, new classic video clips from the series added each week, the entire first episode of the toon, and sneak peeks of upcoming shows. SpongeBob forever!

PBS Kids brings Super Why to Apple’s iPad
Apple’s latest tech crazy device, the iPad, has been out for a few months now, selling like hot cakes and driving everyone into an app-happy frenzy! Joining up on the downloadable band wagon, PBS Kids hopes to launch a number of new applications on the platform, giving kids a reason to sign up and play. First up in the new batch is the Super Why! app in iTunes. Developed as part of the PBS Kids Raising Readers initiative, the $3 app is based on the Out of the Blue Enterprises series, with a number of interactive games using art from the CG animated toon. Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products recently released a new SpongeBob SquarePants app called SpongeBob’s Krusty Komics. The application features digitized comics and even a few games, all featuring your favorite yellow and porous under-sea friend. The iPad launched with tremendous success over this past weekend, letting Apple’s jumbo-sized iPhone device finally make its stance to challenge laptops and notebooks. Eager to hitch itself to the popularity of the new system, Disney is launching a series of applications for fans to enjoy. Included in the list are two different Toy Story apps (one free, the other $9/month) offering read-along stories and a number of other interactive features based on the Pixar franchise. The iPhone and iPod Touch are receiving some Mouse power! Disney is launching a brand new application for the portable devices that will include a range of content from the Magical World of Disney. This includes news, character bios, a live stream of Radio Disney, new and original videos, as well as games. The app will be regularly updated, providing a constant stream of Disney features, even going so far as to manage other Disney and Disney-related apps the user might have on the same device.

Heathcliff and Funny Face join the App world
FitzRoy Media recently signed a deal with Axis3 Apps to create games for Heathcliff and Funny Face. Under the deal, Axis has the exclusive rights to build games and applications for iPhones based on the two popular properties. The plan is to release the first Heathcliff and Funny Face games this November for the iPhone and iPod Touch, with more to work their way out later next year. All games will be available for download through iTunes.

Big Idea and Personalized Products are working together on the first ever iPhone / iTouch app for VeggeTales, called VeggieTales Just For Me.
