Yogi’s Ranger sets up shop
Tom Cavanagh will be filling out the Ranger boots in the upcoming Yogi Bear movie, starring as the infamous Ranger Smith. The Warner Bros. film, which promises to be a mix of live-action and CG animation, not unlike the Scooby Doo series of films, already includes Dan Aykroyd as Yogi and (at least in rumor) Justin Timberlake as his sidekick, Boo-Boo. The toon made famous by Hanna-Barbera in the 60s plans to hit the the big screen within the next two years, though a formal date has not yet been set.

Yogi Bear gets a voice
Warner Bros.’ upcoming Yogi Bear project could have just landed three big names to star in the movie. Amongst the icons looking to join are Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justin Timberlake. The three are reportedly looking to be a major part of the live-action / CG hybrid adaptation of Yogi and friends. Faris will play a nature documentarian who follows the antics of a bear in fictional Jellystone Park. Aykroyd will voice Yogi, and Timberlake could end up lending his pipes for Yogi’s constant companion, Boo Boo. The goal is to start production on the movie sometime next month, and get it into theaters late in 2010 or early 2011.

Yogi and Boo-Boo are ready for their close-ups
Warner Brothers has decided it needs to visit Jellystone Park… and they’re bringing picnic (pic-a-nic) baskets! The studio is reportedly developing a feature version of “Yogi Bear,” the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon. The movie will be half live-action, half ocomputer animated, very similar to the Scooby Doo and Alvin & the Chipmunks movies. Yogi Bear and his sidekick Boo Boo, of course, will be the CGI animation portions. So what kind of mischief will the computer animated bear pals get into? No specific word yet, though certainly Ranger Smith wont be far behind.
