ABC to Snoopy and the Peanuts gang: Lucy Must Be Traded, Charlie Brown
The Peanuts crew may now be worth $175 million (thanks to United Media) but the group of Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Woodstock, and more aren’t just resting back! With summer in full swing, the Peanuts Gang are back at it with a new baseball themed special: Lucy Must Be Traded, Charlie Brown. The episode reaches the ABC network on Wednesday, July 14th, at 8pm. Created by Charles M. Schulz, the characters started life in comic strips before moving to regular seasonal appearances on ABC, all featuring original music by Vince Guaraldi and David Benoit. After a whopping 900 losses, baseball team manager Charlie Brown will do anything for a win. Now that is a sizable investment! The Peanuts gang, whose members include Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, Pig-Pen, Peppermint Patty, Schroeder, Linus, Sally, the red-headed girl, Woodstock, and more, was just sold by E.W. Scripps Co. to Iconix Brand Group. Iconix is currently known for brands like Joe Boxer, Candies, and Danskin, but can now add the famous comic strips and holiday-specials to their galleries. And at what cost? $175 million dollars. The Peanuts sale is beyond just Snoopy Comics, and certainly the largest monetary volume attributed to original creator, Charles M.
