Warner Bros. and D3Publisher to release Yogi Bear: The Video Game
It was just two years ago that ToonBarn first announced the upcoming Yogi Bear live action and CG animated movie. The film, a product from Warner Bros. about the Hanna-Barbera classic, is deep into production, with stars like Dan Aykroyd, Anna Faris, Justin Timberlake, and Chrstine Taylor already on board. Recently, D3Publisher announced they will be working with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on Yogi Bear: The Video Game, set to hit Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 consoles with the film on December 17th, 2010. The game will share the 3D look of the film as well as the voice actors to give gamers a shared experience between theaters and living rooms. (more… )

Warner Bros. brings Looney Tunes’ Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote back to the big screen
Years ago, movies were big events. OK, they’re still big events now, but back in the 40s, 50s, and 60s, they were huge events. Sometimes, it would be a double feature, showing two movies instead of one, and more often than not, news reels and even cartoons would run before and after the showings. That’s, mostly, how the world was introduced to Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes pals. Taking a cue from this blast from the past, Warner Bros. Animation plans on reviving the in-theater toons with brand new, 3D animated shorts before relating Warner Bros. movies. The movies include July 30th’s Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, September 24th’s Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, and December 17th’s Yogi Bear. New info on the Smurfs Movie
We’re now being treated to the very first look at a CG Smurf via the teaser image for the upcoming Sony Pictures Animation and Columbia Pictures film. Opening in theaters on December 17th, 2010, the Smurfs Movie will be directed by Raja Gosnell, taking the 1958 Peyo creation to the big screen in 3D animated style. The look is similar to the 1980s Hanna-Barbera toon that brought the name to fame, but with noticeable more detail in the design. What do you guys think?

Raja Gosnell to direct Smurfs
After a long search, Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation have finally found the director for their upcoming film, the Smurfs. Raja Gosnell, whose previously films include Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Scooby-Doo, will be in charge of the mixed live-action and CG animated Smurfs film, based on those little blue guys Peyo created 50 years ago. As previously reported, the movie will be released in both 2D and 3D, so check your local theater to see which they’ll have — or, at least do that when the movie is actually IN theaters, expected December 17th, 2010.

The Smurfs go 3D
Even after passing their 50th anniversary, the Smurfs are still kicking! The Smurfs movie ToonBarn reported earlier, a mixed CG and live-action film by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation, will also now be a 3D adventure. The movie’s official release date, as of now, is December 17th, 2010 – 52 years after Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford (Peyo) created the little blue guys. Now smurf to the big screen!
