At 8pm on Monday, March 8th, the Disney XD will showcase a new episode of Phineas and Ferb starring Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor. The real life husband and wife acting team will be providing the voice for a super villain and his wife, out to foil Phineas and Ferb’s quest for fun. Ben is no rookie to cartoon work; for years, he has provided the voice of Alex from Madagascar and its sequels. He’s also starred as Robbie the Reindeer in the animated Legend of the Lost Tribe, as well as guest star bits on King of the Hill and the Simpsons. No worries if you miss it; the Phineas and Ferb episode will re-air on the Disney Channel on March 12th, at 9pm. (more… )

If there’s one thing Moonscoop does and does well, they get some great toons together. Twisted Whiskers is one of their upcoming titles, billed as a 3D animated series. The series is based on the greeting card characters from American Greetings Corp who, along with Moonscoop and DQ Entertainment, continue production on their end. At the same time, the companies are working with a number of partners around the globe to make sure the toon gets on a TV near you. We know they’ve already visited Asia, but in Europe, they’ve already signed with France 3, KRO Netherlands, and Italy’s Disney Channel for the first 52 episodes. Cartoon Network has also acquired the rights in Latin America, and perhaps the United States, though we were unable to get confirmation on the latter at this time. Thanksgiving is right around the corner, but then Christmas and the big holiday season are soon to follow afterward! Not wanting to be caught without a plan, Disney has started announcing some of its holiday schedule for toon lovers everywhere. In the mix: Playhouse Disney will be featuring holiday themed episodes of Special Agent Oso, Imagination Movers, and Jungle Junction. The holiday schedule kicks off on Saturday, December 5th at 8am on the Disney Channel.

On October 25th, Disney Channel will debut a new primetime special, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Choo Choo Express. The special will run that Saturday at 7pm, and feature the world famous Disney crew; Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Pluto. With the weather starting to dip into the cooler parts of the year, the timing of the special is perfect, as it takes the cast on a snowy adventure. Whats the story? The group decides to help Professor Von Drake deliver tons of his special, non-melting snow called “Easy Freezy Snow” to areas around the world so that people can have snowball fights and built snowmen year-round. Sounds fun, but personally, I’d miss the hot sun!

On Monday, October 5th, the Disney Channel is heading off into the Jungle. Well, at least, to Jungle Junction – the latest animated series during the Playhouse Disney block. Jungle Junction is about a group of animals that explore the jungles, learning about how to better support and appreciate the environment. The Spider Eye Animation and Disney Channel series will offer a sneak peek on Sunday, October 4th at 7:45pm, following the premiere of Handy Manny’s Motorcycle Adventure. Or, you could just grab the mini-marathons on Sunday October 11th and Sunday November 1st, both starting at 7am.

Late last year, Disney and Pixar worked together on a number of short-form, CG animated sketches based on the Cars universe. The episodes, cleverly called Car Toons, featured the film’s various characters in brief little segments, appearing across the Disney Channel, online, and before Disney films, like Bolt. On Friday, November 20th, the first of four new episodes in the series will debut on the Disney Channel, Disney XD, and ABC Family. The topics for each of the episodes is not yet known, nor is the actual schedule for the other three, which are just listed as “sometime in 2010″, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we do!

Imira Entertainment’s latest toon is a flash animated series, in the style of the original 4Kids, Chaotic cartoon, called Sandra, the Fairytale Detective. Co-produced by TVE and DQ Entertainment, the series has already made deals to appear on various Disney Channel outlets across the globe, including France, Italy, Germany, and India. The story finds 10 year old Sandra (whom we know is a Fairytale Detective!) and her reasoning ways. She uses her detective skills while traveling to other, far away worlds with strange, fairytale characters. And each place has it’s own twist to a common storyline, like what if Pinocchio never lied? Or if someone stole and wore Cinderella’s glass slipper? Sandra has a lot of work on her hands to crack all these cases!

In an effort to test its popularity, the Disney Channel hosted a mini-marathon for its animated series Special Agent Oso yesterday morning, August 24th, between 8am and 10pm. And its a good thing it did, because it showed how popular the toon is! Oso, voiced by Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings) will likely have many more mini-marathons in the future to showcase its new episodes.
