Disney Channel and Aardman Animation unveil Timmy Time

On September 7th, Disney and Aardman Animation will air a special sneak peek at the upcoming animated series, Timmy Time. Disney Channel’s debut of the stop-motion production comes just a few days prior to the official launch of the toon, Monday, September 13th. Based on characters from another of Aardman’s series, Shaun of the Sheep, each episode will follow a day in the life of Timmy and his friends in Nursery, learning about life, friendship and trial and error. Then, a few months afterward, Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment will team up with the groups to release the series on . The first set of discs is set to hit stores in the spring of 2011. (more… )

Chuggington season two heads to Playhouse Disney

Looks like the Ludorum animated series is heading back down the tracks to Disney. The first season has been riding high in the US on the various Disney outlets, just as it has in the UK on the ’s CBeebies. With that in mind, Disney announced they’ll gladly be showcasing a second season on Playhouse Disney, starting this coming January. Whether it’s freight cars loading or passenger cabs fueling up, there’s always something going on in Chuggington, and we get a special view of the action, thanks to chuggers Wilson, Brewster, and Koko. The locations feature a wide array of platforms, repair sheds, training yards, and more – virtually an unlimited number of destinations to explore; as long as you’ve got the tracks to spare! Disney continues Phineas and Ferb summer tour with Nerds of a Feather

Just days ago, ToonBarn broke the news that Disney XD and the Disney Channel will be showcasing two new episodes of Phineas and Ferb this summer. The first, called Summer Belongs to You, hit TVs the week of August 2nd. Now, Disney is promising to bring both Phineas and Ferb back for a whole new additional special episode! This second new episode, Nerds of a Feather, boasts it’s own set of special stars, including guest animator/writer Seth MacFarlane (of Family Guy fame) and filmmaker Kevin Smith. When can you catch it? The premiere is Monday, August 16th at 8p on Disney XD, set to later replay on the Disney Channel Friday, August 27th. (more… )

A few days back, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (a.k.a. NATAS) dished out trophies and recognition to the winners of the 37th Annual Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The event recognizes outstanding achievement in all creative fields of daytime TV production during the 2009 calendar year, making specific note of cartoons, animated programs, and the networks that air them. took home the most nods this year, with 15 wins. Phineas and Ferb say Summer Belongs to You, on Disney XD and Disney Channel

August will bring many fans much happiness, as the month promises to debut two brand new episodes of Phineas and Ferb. The first episode, Summer Belongs to You, is the perfect way to kick off the month! The one hour toon reaches Disney XD on August 2nd at 8pm, set to replay later on the Disney Channel that Friday, August 6th. Special guest celebrity stars are promised to lend their voices. The ep will also include a duet Chaka Khan and Clay Aiken, as well as other songs performed by the cast, which will be showcased on Radio Disney’s Planet Premiere all this week. The creative minds behind Disney and Pixar’s “Cars” knew they had something special, but couldn’t have imagined how popular their creation truly was – never thinking it would be rolling on 4 year later. In the short, Mater is a professional wrestler who works his way up the ranks from amateur to World Champion Monster Truck Wrestler, wrestling all kinds of characters along the way. Metajets marathon on Cartoon Network for July 4th weekend

Cartoon Network is helping us celebrate the Fourth of July holiday in a big way this year! The toon-friendly channel is pumping out hours and hours of the anime series Metajets for all to enjoy in an all day on July 4th. The high-flying series will continue at weekday mornings at 6:00 starting July 5th and running daily. The show is about young flying aces competing in the Aeronautical Racing Circuit, secretly battling for air supremacy. Disney and ABC Television launch Disney Junior

In an effort to match Nickelodeon’s Noggin channel, Disney and ABC Television are preparing the launch of their latest expansion: Disney Junior. The new channel plans to become a mainstay of cable networks around the country by the year 2012, taking much of the Playhouse Disney channels and relating programming blocks on the Disney Channel and relocating it to Disney Junior. The network aims to air more than 200 new episodes every year of new and existing series, such as Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Special Agent Oso, and Imagination Movers, amongst others.
