The Princess and the Frog to DVD in a few days
In Just a few days, Disney’s The Princess and the Frog will hit Blu-ray and DVD, making it’s official launch on March 16th. As we gear up for the home welcoming of Disney’s latest animated blockbuster, we thought it would be fun to take a look at some fun clips and a sneak peek at the discs’ bonus materials. Spidey Shoes Tingling
Marvel Entertainment and Disney are expanding their horizons with everyone’s favorite web-headed wall-crawler, Spider-Man. In a partnership with Reebok, shoe-maker extraordinaire, Spider-Man will be gracing sneakers later this year, with the footwear available at Finish Line stores nationwide starting in the next few weeks. Disney has made it’s way to the soul (ha!) of the issue before, with sneakers featuring Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and other Disney icons, just as Ben 10 has had his own sneaker involvement in the past. No word yet on whether or not these sneakers will give you the ability to walk up the sides of buildings, or if the laces could double as webbing to swing from rooftop to rooftop, but… we doubt it. Alice in Wonderland makes audiences lose heads, says nydailynews.com
This was a Jabberwock of a debut weekend for Alice in Wonderland, according to the NY Daily News. Movie-goers went mad as a hatter, grabbing tickets at the box office to the tune of $116 million for the new Disney film. The live action and CG animation hybrid film is now credited as having the highest grossing weekend for a non-sequel; though there is at least a correlation to Alice’s first trip to Wonderland. The film aired in most regions across 3D screens, as Johnny Depp wowed audience in the latest Tim Burton picture. Who went to see it this weekend? And who will be back to see it (again) next weekend? Up takes home the Oscars
While it didn’t win the award for Best Picture (losing out to “The Hurt Locker”) Disney and Pixar’s summer blockbuster of 2009, UP, did get to take home the night’s most prestigious animated award, Best Animated Feature Film. The flick appeared in a group of some really amazing nominees; Coraline, The Princess and the Frog, The Secret of Kells, and the Fantastic Mr. Fox each represented toons in an amazing fashion. But, at the end of the night, it was Up that took the Oscar – and not just for the animation! Composer Michael Giacchino also grabbed the trophy for providing UP with a phenomenal musical score. Absolutely well deserved awards, we think Oscar was spot-on this time around

New Iron Man 2 trailer debuts on ABC.com
Fresh off the Oscars, and a night with drama between Cablevision, ABC and ABC.com tried to bring viewers back to happiness by showing the newest trailer to Iron Man 2 during the Jimmy Kimmel Live late night show. Getting ready for the May 7th theatrical launch, the sequel reveals that the world is aware that billionaire inventor Tony Stark is the armored super hero. Under pressure from the government, the press and the public to share his technology with the military. However, Tony is unwilling to divulge the secrets because he fears the information will slip into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts, and James Rhodey Rhodes at his side, Tony forges new alliances and confronts powerful new forces. The cast is filled out by Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, as Jon Favreau directs the Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment flick. The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes
Disney and their new partners Marvel are teaming together to bring us a brand new animated series, The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The channel has ordered at least 52 episodes of the action adventure series, that will premiere later this yaer on Disney XD and DisneyXD.com. The stars will of course be the heroic icons you can easily recognize from other Marvel projects, including Iron Man, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Giant Man, and Wasp, together forming the elite super team, the Avengers. The series will feature a 20-part “micro-series” exploring the back-story of each character, going along with Marvel’s concept for films in the theater. (more… )
Alice in Wonderland in theaters today
Tim Burton’s dream-like take on the already-dream-like Alice in Wonderland hits theaters today, starring Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Crispin Glover, and Michael Sheen, amongst others. The world of the new “Alice” has drifted a long way from the Looking Glass, and the original 1951 animated Disney classic. Combining live action with animation, the film brings Alice, now 19 years old, back to Wonderland 12 years later where she must confront the Jabberwock, the Red Queen, the Mad Hatter, and more. Disney will bring modern take to both 3D and IMAX screens as well as regular theaters globally, starting today, March 5th. Anyone planning on going opening night? (more… )
Disney takes Epic Mickey to “Nintendo levels”
Epic Mickey, the upcoming game for the Nintendo Wii, has some large expectations. Not only does the game promise to be, well, “epic”, but Disney executives have stated that they want to make sure the game is majorly successful; bringing it to “Nintendo levels” of success, according to Graham Hopper, VP and GM of Disney Interactive Studios. Since first hearing about the game, fans have been intrigued with the new style of Mickey Mouse, which Disney (working with help from Pixar) hopes to return the icon to his more mischievous routes, making for a more robust and heroic representative.
