Seth Rogen joins DreamWorks Animation's Boo U

He’s quickly becoming the number one star of voice acting in animated projects. He’s starred as Mantis in Kung Fu Panda, and will reprise that role in Kung Fu Panda 2. He was Morton in Horton Hears a Who. He slopped along as B.O.B. in Monsters vs Aliens, played a Ship Captain in Shrek the Third, Hogsqueal in The Spiderwick Chronicles, and even guest starred as Lyle McCarthy on an episode of . Seth Rogen is no stranger to the world of voice acting, and DreamWorks is not done with him! According to recent reports, Rogen will star as the lead character in DreamWorks Animations’ upcoming 3D, CG film titled Boo U. Now, the box office receipts make it official, as Toy Story 3 moves into the incredibly exclusive $1 billion dollar club. Ignoring the concept of inflation, there are only 6 other movies in this famous grouping, which helps set Toy Story 3 aside as one of the greatest films and accomplishments of all time – just edging out Batman’s The Dark Knight. Disney's Toy Story 3 tops DreamWorks' Shrek 2 as top earning animated film

For 6 years now, Shrek 2 has remained on top of the mountain as the all-time highest grossing animated film, dethroning the Lion King after ’s animated classic had a 10 year reign. As of this past week, there’s a new boss in town, and ’s Toy Story 3. The 3D juggernaut has earned over $920 million worldwide in the box office (over $400 million locally) besting Shrek’s $919.8 million. As the speed is dying down a bit since the June 18th launch, experts are unsure whether the film will have the legs to reach the $1 billion global plateau. However, the film is already /’s highest grossing weekend with $109 million, and holds the title of the biggest June opening ever. And thankfully for us at home, Studios Home Entertainment will release Toy Story 3 on Blu-ray and DVD on November 2, 2010. (more… )

As the world of CG animation grows by leaps and bounds, there has become a larger need for quality CG studios, giving movies and animated TV toons the polish that they need. Omnilab Media and Oktobor are no slouches in this field, joining together to form Oktobor Animation. Working along with Backyard Animation Pictures, this mega studio will become a dominant force for CG animation, leading the way with Nickelodeon Studios’ hit series The Penguins of Madagascar. The plan is to balloon the studio to over 120 artists and producers in the next 12 months, then 300 by 2014. Production companies are always on the search to create the next big thing, especially now in the advent of the CG movie. has it’s Toy Story franchise, DreamWorks can always turn to Shrek, Fox has the Ice Age films, etc. So where does a company like Rainmaker Entertainment turn to? Ting & Juma. At least, that’s what they’re hoping. The story follows the exploits of Ting, a small energetic alien with an attitude, and Juma, an adventure seeking, creative caveman-ish forest dweller. The studio has already produced several short films of their adventures, and is now prepping the grandest of adventures, Ting & Juma: The Movie. So, how will things turn out? For nearly ten years now, DreamWorks Animation has been known as the home to the ogre-based Shrek franchise. So, would it surprise you all that much to hear that the CG movie making giant could perhaps be tackling another folklore type mythological character; trolls? The animation studio has revealed plans to create just such a CG film, with the big hair good luck Troll Dolls as the main characters. The toy line, owned by Dam Things, has signed on with DreamWorks to give the characters a good home, with Dannie Festa at the helm. And whats better, beyond games, the company promises that 3D movies will also soon be playable on the system, including DreamWorks Animations’ How To Train Your Dragon and ’s Toy Story franchise, including the new Toy Story 3.
