Warner Premiere to revisit the DC Comics classic Batman: Year One

DC Comics and Warner Premiere have partnered again and again on bringing the DC Universe to life through amazing animated DVDs and Blu-ray discs. We’ve been treated to stories about Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the Justice League, to name a few, but it’s Batman and the top-ranking popularity of the Dark Knight that have earned the most nods, including the recent Batman: Under the Red Hood. Now, rumor has it the next Batman story will be perhaps the most famous and best comic of them all, Frank Miller’s 1987 classic, Batman: Year One, with the floated date of September 27th, 2011, and directors Sam Liu and Lauren Montgomery. This would have the title coincide with Christopher Nolan’s third film in the Batman franchise. Could this be true? Would you love it if it were? Can you tell that we really, really, really would?!!? Warner Bros. offers a sneak peek of Batman: Under the Red Hood

On July 27th, the DC Comics Universe will expand to video once again, as Warner Bros. debuts the animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood. Produced by Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League vet Bruce Timm, the film depicts Batman going toe-to-toe against his former sidekick, Jason Todd, the second Robin. Starring the voice talents of Bruce Greenwood, , and Jensen Ackles, the direct-to-DVD disc joins a long line of successful Warner Premier efforts, like Wonder Woman and Green Lantern: First Flight. DC Comics and Warner Bros announce Green Lantern: The Animated Series for Cartoon Network

It started with Super Friends. Years later, it was appearances on Superman: The Animated Series. Then starring roles (and multiple portrayals) on Cartoon Network’s Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. Within the past two years, he had his own Warner Premiere cartoon movie and then reports of an upcoming live action mega blockbuster film. Move over Batman, and stand aside Spider-Man, Green Lantern is making his big move to stardom! Time Warner / Warner Bros. and DC Comics have announced that Cartoon Network will be the proud airing network of Green Lantern: The Animated Series. The toon will debut after Ryan Reynolds wields the ring in the June 17, 2011 big screen, live action, 3D debut. The Green Lantern goes 3D

The world of 3D has had a lot of success lately, what with Avatar and Alice and Wonderland raking in the big bucks. The world of super hero films has also done nicely, what with Iron Man and Dark Knight raking in the big bucks. Using that logic, Warner Bros. has a great idea on their mind: combine the two! The upcoming Green Lantern film, will do just that. The Green Lantern, due to hit screens on June 17th, 2011, will bring the DC Comics hero into living 3D. Directed by Martin Campbell and starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, DC Entertainment plans to take this imagination-based hero into the stars, but also into your eyes, through stereoscopic 3D use. February 6th saw the 37th Annual Annie Awards ceremony in LA, a celebration of animated talent. We learned of the nominations a few weeks ago, and now the results are in. The big winners of the night: Up was named Best Animated Feature. The holiday special Prep and Landing took the award for Best Animated Television Production. The award for Best Home Entertainment Production went to Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder, and Robot Chicken: Star Wars 2.5 was picked as Best Animated Short Subject. What?! There’s going to be a third Batman film, to follow up after The Dark Knight?? OK, OK, I know. It’s not exactly blockbuster information to think there will be a Batman 3 in theaters after the first two amazingly successful films. Everyone knew it was coming, but this past week is the first time it was confirmed people were working on it.
