Mattel and Classic Media's She-Ra reaches 25th anniversary

Princess Adora might not be overly anxious to dish out her age every birthday, but Mattel and Classic Media couldn’t be more proud that She-Ra – their creation and Adora’s alter ego – is celebrating her 25th anniversary this week. For the honor of Grayskull! The classic 80s toon, recently re-released on YouTube, produced a legion of fans, action figures, and products a few decades back, rising to fame as the twin sister of Prince Adam, other wise known as He-Man. Together, the two lead the Masters of the Universe from Saturday mornings to digital downloads on iTunes, with more in store for the future. DC Showcase Jonah Hex featured on Batman: Under the Red Hood

He may be a few hundred years old by today’s calendar, but 2010 was definitely a big year for Jonah Hex. He made his big screen debut earlier this summer, and later made his digital debut with an iTunes motion comic. Now, fans lucky enough to get their hands on Warner Premiere’s latest animated DVD, Batman: Under the Red Hood, will be treated to a special extra; DC Showcase Jonah Hex. While the motion comic brought comic book panels to life via Flash animation, the DC Showcase is a brand new, 10+ minute animated adventure starring the scarred cowboy. Written by Joe R. Every Sunday at 4pm, PBS, Shaw TV, and many other stations worldwide have themselves a bowl full of Mixed Nutz. Er, that is, they air the animated series Mixed Nutz for all of us lucky fans to enjoy. Recently, Shaw Multicultural Channel renewed the Big Bad Book Studios produced toon, with a new season featuring an adventurous and diverse character set; Sanjay, Babak, Jae, Adele and Damaris – a group of friends from around the world. The groundbreaking series celebrates cultures of the world with heart and humor, but best of all, it’s fun! SpongeBob has been a lot of places in his eleven years; Nick TV, video games, audio CDs, the big theatrical screen, etc. It only makes sense in this Apple-friendly “i” world that we’d see more and more of the porous one hitting the downloadable world of applications. Nickelodeon UK obviously completely agrees as the network’s Digital Group recently packaged together and launched the latest thing in the iTunes store: iSponge. SpongeBobs new app, made perfectly for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, has a number of under-the-sea features, including an exclusive SpongeBob SquarePants , new classic video clips from the series added each week, the entire first episode of the toon, and sneak peeks of upcoming shows. SpongeBob forever!

Warner Bros. brings Jonah Hex Motion Comics to iTunes

Warner Bros. recently brought Jonah Hex to the big screen – and while the film didn’t have the same critically acclaimed impact that Jonah Hex’s “little screen” TV appearances did for Cartoon Network’s Justice League, is hoping the third medium is a charm. Thus, the DC Comics character is making his way to a downloadable format, via the medium known as Motion Comics; taking existing comic book artwork, then animating them in a cartoon-like fashion. In total, three action packed Jonah Hex Motion Comics are available for download, bringing the books to life panel by panel via Warner Premiere’s digital push. First up in the new batch is the Super Why! app in iTunes.
