Futurama returns as Comedy Central revives the Fox classic
Matt Groening is the well-known creator of the weller-known mega series, The Simpsons. For decades, Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa, and Maggie have ruled Fox television, but for a brief period, they shared the spotlight with “sister series” Futurama, which followed the adventures of a 20th-century New York City pizza delivery boy, Philip J. Fry (Billy West), who was cryogenically frozen for a thousand years, then awakened in the 31st-century to a world of robots and aliens. Futurama ran from 1999 to 2003, later finding a popular home on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. After which, four straight-to-DVD films were created that performed so well, Comedy Central purchased the rights to air them on TV. After receiving rave reviews, Comedy Central decided to sign up for an entirely new season, reviving the Futurama series. The Simpsons go postage!
Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising is working with the US Postal Service to get us some Simpsons stamps! To honor the longest-running, first family of cartoons, the USPS will introduce a 44-cent First-Class Mail stamp this year, drawn by series creator Matt Groening. The stamps will, of course, feature Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson.

Longest-running TV series ever… a cartoon!
The Simpsons has been on for 20 years. Twenty!!! That currently makes it the longest-running cartoon of all time, and the longest-running American sitcom. But, just this past week, they people behind the show signed a deal to bring us the folks from Springfield for at least another 3 years. That will make it the longest-running series ever, cartoon or otherwise. And, yes, you could say it’s because cartoons are better than other shows
