The Last Airbender’s new trailer

The Last Airbender's new trailer

Last week, theaters welcomed Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief to the box office; and warmly, we might add. More importantly to us, however, was that the film included the newtrailer to M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming film The Last Airbender – longer than the trailer shown during the Super Bowl. The story, based on Nickelodeon’s Avatar The Last Airbender, tells the tale of Aang, a 12-year-old boy (played by Noah Ringer) who provides the last hope for restoring harmony to a land consumed by chaos. Take a look at the trailer right here and see for yourself! (more… )

Actually… looking at the numbers, it looks like you had over 16 million people at your house watching it, too!! OK, maybe they were home in their own houses, but still, that’s a lot of folks TOONing in! The explosive hit became Cartoon Network’s latest ratings mega blockbuster, ranking first place versus all other networks in just about every category. I might need to watch this again! :)

Yogi Bear gets a voice

Yogi Bear gets a voice

Warner Bros.’ upcoming Yogi Bear project could have just landed three big names to star in the movie. Amongst the icons looking to join are Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justin Timberlake. The three are reportedly looking to be a major part of the live-action / CG hybrid adaptation of Yogi and friends. Faris will play a nature documentarian who follows the antics of a bear in fictional Jellystone Park. Aykroyd will voice Yogi, and Timberlake could end up lending his pipes for Yogi’s constant companion, Boo Boo. The goal is to start production on the movie sometime next month, and get it into theaters late in 2010 or early 2011.

Doodlebops Rockin' Road Show

Illusion Studios, Optix Entertainment, and Cookie Jar Entertainment are working together on an upcoming animated series called Doodlebops Rockin’ Road Show. The toon will follow Cookie Jar’s live-action TV show “The Doodlebops”, but in the much more appreciated cartoon form. Deedee, Rooney, and Moe Doodle are back with fresh musical adventures, along with Bus Driver Bob. The group helps to solve issues and journey to fun new destinations in each episode. Live action or animated, sounds like some good times … though preferred animated :)

Where the Wild Things Are in theaters today

Where the Wild Things Are in theaters today

It took the help of animation (doesn’t everything? :) ) but finally, after years of work, Where the Wild Things Are is coming to the big screen today. Where the Wild Things is an adaptation of the Maurice Sendak book of the same name, which came out in 1963. To reproduce the look of the monsters and wild creatures, the producers combined live action with CG, animatronics, and suitmation — actually using a giant suit, with some added effects. The result is a beautiful piece of film, brought to us by Legendary Pictures, Village Roadshow Pictures, Playtone, and Warner Bros. Be sure to check out the trailer after the break. Anyone planning on seeing it this weekend?
