How refreshing to see a licensed game for the sake of a licensed game, and not just as part of a painful cross-media PR campaign for a film or cartoon… yes, it has been a long 20 years since the Turtles last dazzled us in game form. But 20 years older and 20 years wiser, Smash Up sees our heroes prepared to raise shell.

More details on Marvel Super Hero Squad
The recently announced Marvel cartoon, Marvel Super Hero Squad, will have a whole collection of famous cartoon-voices to power the series. The toon features the voices of Tom Kenny (from Spongebob), Charlie Adler (from Transformers), Steve Blum (from Wolverine and the X-Men, and the Hulk Vs. movies) and Grey DeLisle (from Fairly Oddparents and The Replacements). The series will also feature a number of special guest voices, including comic book creator Stan Lee as the Mayor of Super Hero City.

Though it’s not exactly promoting hearts and love here on Valentine’s Day, the latest trailer for the upcoming TMNT game does promote fun! TMNT: Smash Up, a brawl 25 years in the making, is Ubisoft’s latest take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fighting game. The Nintendo Wii game is said to play similarly to Super Smash Bros. Superman! Spider-Man! X-Men! Wolverine! Batman! …some other hero? Well, maybe! Platinum Studios, Inc. is joining forces (super forces?) with Sony Pictures Animation (SPA) to start an animated film about a superhero — one of 5,600 comic book superheroes that Platinum Studios controls. There’s no details yet on who the character will be, or what his or her powers will be, but with all the super hero hype going around, it’s certainly a great time. Still little is known about the four-player fighting game, which features the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as their enemies and friends, in melee battles similar to the Super Smash Bros. franchise. New TMNT Game Celebrates 25 Years Of Turtle Power
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ubisoft has detailed a brand-new video game based on the four turtles. There does not appear to be an immediate connection to any of the TV series or movies, but it looks like the typical cast and crew are involved! It is currently set to be released in the fall of this year. Check out the full press release after the break!
