Nickelodeon scores Dora’s Big Ratings for Dora’s Big Birthday Adventure
And the top-rated show honors goes to… Dora the Explorer! The cute little adventurer won big time for Nickelodeon with her 10th anniversary prime time special last Sunday. The toon, Dora’s Big Birthday Adventure, was the top rated program amongst kids during the time slot, and scored the highest numbers for a Dora toon in over two years! And with all the foreign language she’s taught us over the years across the Nick Jr. lineups, we should have said this in Spanish. …hmm… (more… )

Nick Jr. DVD presents Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!: Wubbzy Goes to School
I know, I know… no one wants to hear it’s “back to school” time. I’m with ya. So let’s just ignore the “Wubbzy Goes to School” part of the title and instead concentrate on it being a new Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! DVD! The package, released by Nickelodeon and Anchor Bay Entertainment, features everybody’s favorite yellow, bendy-tailed buddy from Nick Jr. In the adventure, Wubbzy faces his fear, Widget trains to be a ballerina and everybody tries to learn tricks from Moo Moo The Magician. Join the fun, as Wubbzy and his friends meet new kids and discover new experiences, with plenty of singing and dancing along the way! Coolabi and King Rollo Films bring Poppy Cat to Nick Jr
Soon enough, Nickelodeon will bring fans the world of Poppy Cat, Big Cat, Zuzu, Alma, Mo, Owl, and Bear. Why’s that? Because Coolabi and King Rollo Films are bringing the book series to Nick Jr. The production has already begun, translating Lara Jones Poppy Cat books into animated form and straight to Nick Junior in the UK. The plan is to get the cute little toon on televisions starting early 2011, spreading across the globe shortly after, with Cake Entertainment handling the plans for that. It’s not quite clear yet what the series’ tone will be, but we can turn to the existing books for a cue: Poppy Cat’s Play House, Poppy Cat’s Christmas, Poppy Cat Loves Rainbows, Poppy Cat’s Dream, Poppy Cat’s Sparkly Night, amongst others. Treehouse celebrates Dora the Explorer’s 10th anniversary this Sunday
On Sunday, August 15th, Treehouse and the whole of Corus Entertainment will proudly celebrate Dora the Explorer’s 10th anniversary. The key to the celebration will be the debut of the primetime TV movie Dora’s Big Birthday Adventure at 6pm. The hour long special will also be airing on Nickelodeon in the US, so if you have a satellite that can pick up both channels, feel free to switch back and forth! Special guests include: Rosie Perez, John Leguizamo, and Hector Elizondo, amongst others. Even at ten years old, Dora shows no signs of slowing down! The iconic animated diva, created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh, and Eric Weiner, raked in about $2.5 billion in sales, this year alone. That could buy a lot of birthday presents! (more… )

Nickelodeon welcomes Pocoyo
Nickelodeon has long since been known as a pioneer in the world of animated series. Helping continue that streak, the company’s sister channel, Nick Jr., will soon be broadcasting the CG animated series Pocoyo. The series, produced by Zinkia and ITV Studios Global Entertainment, will make its English-language premiere in the US, but it has long since been popular in other areas of the globe. The toon follows the adventures of a 3 year old boy named Pocoyo (which means “little me” in Spanish) and his animal pals: Elly the elephant, Pato the duck, and Loula the dog. Nickelodeon’s Kai-Lan continues to teach
Over the past few months, Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. have debuted a number of brand new episodes of the popular series Ni Hao, Kai-Lan. Each one tends to a specific theme, with a moral and a lesson ready to teach fans something important about the world they live in through the world Kai-Lan lives in. Recently, the toon-happy network has received a lot of praise for focusing certain episodes on important youth lessons, such as giving everyone a chance, not being bossy, practice, and learning to view and take perspectives. While the series is still somewhat new in it’s lifespan, it shows a lot of promise to be around for a long, long time — not unlike the network’s big brother, SpongeBob.
