NFL brings Rush Zone: Guardians of the Core to Nick

It’s not often that you see a partnership between the National Football League and a cartoon producing powerhouse like Nickelodeon teaming up on a project, so when they do, you know it’s going to be special! In this case, we have a brand new animated short-form series that the NFL will bring to Nicktoons called Rush Zone: Guardians of the Core. The toon stars Ishmael, your average 10 year old boy, with some not-so-average abilities and responsibilities — he is tasked with protective the various NFL stadiums, which house the powerful flow of positive life energy — all from the grasp of the villainous Sudden Death. Many players and coaches will be stopping by on occasion to help out, including Eli Manning and Sean Payton, amongst others. The series Kick Off (literally!) is this September, leading to a 1-hour movie finale the day before Super Bowl XLV, Saturday, February 5th. (more… )

It looks like Voltron’s recent move to YouTube has helped bring about new interest! The new series, Voltron Force, (formerly Voltron Panthera Force) will be making its way to Nickelodeon’s Nicktoons sometime next year, being produced by WEP, Classic Media, and Kickstart Productions. Toei Animation gets new Dragon Ball Z toys in Brazil

The Dragon Ball universe has had a great deal of attention lately. Just recently, Dragon Ball Z Kai was picked up to air weekdays on Nickelodeon’s Nicktoons starting May 24th. Just a few days later, TheCW4Kids announced that it would be airing Dragon Ball Z Kai during weekends starting later this fall, on the newly re-branded Saturday morning lineup Toonzai. Now, is ready to announce a whole series of deals connected to manga and anime world of DBZ. In Brazil, Algazarra and DTM have each signed on to produce a new series of action figures and toys, showcasing each of the characters. Richtex has also agreed to produce a number of bath and beach towels for the toon. Staying dry and staging fights is a pretty lethal combo, if you ask us! (more… )

Nicktoons goes Dragon Ball Z Kai crazy May 24th

Monday May 24th is D-Day for Nickelodeon watchers. Well, DBZ-day. Or, maybe DBZK-day? Whatever you want to call it, at 8pm, Nicktoons will be airing back to back episodes of Dragon Ball Z Kai, repeating the back-to-back mini-marathon again on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of that week. The Funimation Entertainment and series has 99 episodes in all for its American deal, which will also be running (separately) on TheCW4Kids’ Saturday morning block starting in September of this year. Creator Akira Toriyama and Shueisha worked on the series as part of the 20th anniversary for the anime and manga franchise. Fans lucky enough to have already seen some episodes call it “the definitive Dragon Ball experience.” What say you? (more… )

We only just recently got the news that Dragon Ball Z Kai will be joining Nickelodeon’s Nicktoons lineup later this year, and now we’re here with another Dragon Ball announcement: Dragon Ball Z Kai will be heading to Saturdays on TheCW4Kids. Wait… what?! Yes, that’s right. Funimation and Toei have not only teamed up with Nick, they’ve teamed up with 4Kids, too! The anime series uses the original Dragon Ball Z toon from the early 90s, and repackages the episodes to follow Akira Toriyama’s original manga storyline. There are new effects, new animations, re-recorded audio for better sound, and remastered visuals in high definition. So where are you gonna watch? (more… )

SpongeBob's Last Stand revisits Nickelodeon for Earth Day celebration

Nickelodeon makes sure to honor Earth Day each year, and 2010 is no different. Last night, the network aired a special SpongeBob SquarePants episode called SpongeBob’s Last Stand to help get the message across. But if you missed it, no worries! The environment-focused 30-minute special will be replayed on Saturday, April 24th at 9am, and again on Sunday, April 25th at 11am. Additionally, the nature-themed SpongeBob’s Last Stand is currently available on DVD from Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment. The production duo has released other green minded specials, including Nick Jr. Favorites: Go Green, which includesenvironmental-themed episodes of Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go!, The Wonder Pets!, Yo Gabba Gabba!, Blue’s Clues and Ni Hao, Kai-lan in eco-friendly packaging.
