Bakugan Battle Trainer for Nintendo DS
Just months after Bakugan: Battle Brawlers made its way to the Nintendo DS, Activision and Nelvana Enterprises issue a new call to brawl on Nintendo’s portable system with Bakugan Battle Trainer. In Bakugan Battle Trainer, players master the secrets of training their Bakugan while choosing how to improve their skills and abilities. The game, a fresh extension of the blockbuster franchise named 2009’s toy of the year, includes an in-depth training mode that helps their Bakugan excel at all aspects of battling. Players send their trained creatures into battle to free their imprisoned brethren from the enemy’s hold. Beyond this ingenious style of play, the classic elements of Bakugan are in place; collect up to 30 creatures, intense battle action, and the ability to improve your rank by defeating opponents. And who knows, maybe when it’s released on March 30th, it will come with a blanket to match the last game’s pillow? (more… )
Nintendo brings Jirachi to Pokemon fans
From February 27th through March 13th, you’d better be heading to Gamestop! There, Nintendo will offer Pokemon fans a special treat – a rare, downloadable Pokemon. Which pocket monster? The famed wish-granting Jirachi. This isn’t your everyday Pokemon here; Jirachi can not be obtained through regular game play, and the last time it was even available was back in Pokemon Ruby / Pokemon Sapphire, also Super Smash Bros Brawl. If you trade Jirachi to the upcoming HeartGold or SoulSilver, you can unlock a special route in your Pokewalker, allowing you to catch rare and special Pokemon outside of the actual game. Now if only you could get Pokemon HeartGold, Pokemon SoulSilver, and a Nintendo DSi for free…?
For now, just head to any Game Stop with a copy of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and download Jirachi for free to your Nintendo DS. Check out Jirachi in action (more… )
Dragon Ball: Origins 2 out this summer
Namco Bandai has announced it is returning to the Origins part of the Nintendo DS Dragon Ball genre with this summer’s Dragon Ball: Origins 2. The sequel to the original will feature stylus-controlled action, but unlike some of Nintendo’s other games (we’re looking at you, Zelda!) you have the option to switch to the more traditional buttons if you’d like. A two-player co-op mode is included, so you wirelessly can pair with a pal to take down the Red Ribbon Army. This Game Republic developed game, also known as Dragon Ball DS 2: Charge! Red Ribbon Army, is based on Akira Toriyama’s popular manga and anime franchise. You have the ability to play as Son Goku, but also Bulma, Krillin, and Yamcha; each with their own abilities and powerups. Take a look at the Japenese trailer (more… )
The Nintendo DSi XL: A New Way to Game
It seems that with every passing day, touch screen technology is getting better and better. The response time is quicker, the models are more pleasing to the eyes, and the screens are larger. Cell phones, iPods, tablets, all are constantly upgrading to more advanced versions every few months, with consumers buying every new release. Nintendo hasn’t ignored this touch screen trend. The Nintendo DS has revolutionized gaming, no exception given to the Nintendo DSi. The spring, Nintendo will be releasing their newest DS handheld, a remake of the DSi, the Nintendo DSi XL. The XL’s greatest feature goes past it sleek design—the XL has four inch top and bottom screens, the bottom screen being more sensitive and touch precise than the previous models. The rumored price is well over two hundred dollars, quite a lot for just a handheld. What do you think? Perhaps this could be the perfect system to play the new Pokemon remakes on, or even the new Sonic Collection coming out in March. (more… )

Special Sonic Classic Collection to the Nintendo DS
If you’re going to ask my personal opinion, I think that the best Sonic games are the classic 2D games – that means two things; (1) I’m incredibly psyched about the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and (2) I am absolutely in love with the upcoming special Sonic Classic Collection for the Nintendo DS. The collection includes Sega’s first three Sonic games and Sonic & Knuckles, as well as a tin, art cards, and a Sonic figurine. Unfortunately (for me) as of right now, the collection will only be available in Spain and Australia, but Sega has not ruled out a wider distribution. (more… )
