Word up, it’s WordGirl! The Emmy-Award winning PBS series WordGirl is coming to save Earth Day. On March 30th, Paramount and PBS Kids will team together to bring the world WordGirl Earth Day Girl on DVD. The disc is packed with eight adventures, games, and featurettes, and a number of other bonuses included. Becky Botsford, aka WordGirl; the super hero with a super vocabulary is ready to prove crime doesn’t pay, uses flight, super strength, and her rocket home base to help in her mission to educate villains who speak improperly – and entertain thousands of fans at home. New Iron Man 2 trailer debuts on ABC.com

Fresh off the Oscars, and a night with drama between Cablevision, ABC and ABC.com tried to bring viewers back to happiness by showing the newest trailer to Iron Man 2 during the Jimmy Kimmel Live late night show. Getting ready for the May 7th theatrical launch, the sequel reveals that the world is aware that billionaire inventor Tony Stark is the armored super hero. Under pressure from the government, the press and the public to share his technology with the military. However, Tony is unwilling to divulge the secrets because he fears the information will slip into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts, and James Rhodey Rhodes at his side, Tony forges new alliances and confronts powerful new forces. The cast is filled out by Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, as Jon Favreau directs the Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment flick. Shrek Forever After

The fourth, and (possibly) final Shrek cinematic adventure, Shrek Forever After, is officially dated for May 21st, though the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC will be debuting the jolly green giant’s film a month earlier, on April 21st. The CG movie, which DreamWorks Animation boasts will be available in vivid 3D, is touted as the final chapter in the Shrek storyline, though no one is sure whether or not to believe that; especially with the guarantee of a Puss in Boots spin-off movie hitting theaters movie next year. Either way, the film will be directed by Mike Mitchell and again stars the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and Antonio Banderas. Check out the latest trailer (more… )

The Comedy Central animated series, Drawn Together, is getting the movie treatment, titled The Drawn Together Movie: The Movie! Yes, “the movie” is actually part of the title. The DVD is set for an April 20th release, according to the distributor Paramount Home Entertainment. Rene Russo joins the cast of Thor

Frigga, wife of Odin, mother to Thor, mother to Loki, and titled the Queen of Asgard herself is about to get her latest element: an actress. Rene Russo has signed on to the upcoming Marvel Entertainment movie project, Thor, to star in the matriarch’s role. The film already boasts a cast of celebrities including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Natalie Portman as Thor’s female crush. The movie is still in the early stages, obviously still in casting mode, but Paramount is racing ahead towards the launch goal: getting this flick in theaters for May 20th, 2011.

You got to hand it to them: the first feature-length DVD starring the Penguins of Madagascar is pretty appropriately named. The Penguins of Madagascar Operation: DVD Premiere will be hitting shelves in just a few weeks, on February 9th. It’s already chilly feeling here a few days before Christmas, might as well think like a penguin! The stars of the Nickelodeon series, whom were stars of DreamWorks Madagascar movies, will soon be stars of a Paramount Home Entertainment DVD. Operation: DVD Premiere features never-before-seen missions that continue the MAD-tastic adventure, plus favorite escapades from the highly-rated Nickelodeon series The Penguins of Madagascar.

As we continue to ramp up towards the holiday season, cartoons are becoming Christmassier and Christmassier. …That’s right, we made it up. And yet, you know exactly what we mean! Take Dora the Explorer, for example. Nickelodeon is planning to premiere her brand new, hour long primetime special Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure in just a few weeks, on Sunday, December 6th at 8pm. The special features the Young People’s Chorus of New York City singing the theme song, and will later replay on Nick Jr. a few days later; on Sunday, December 13th at 7pm. Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment will team up to release the DVD, while Sony Music will release Dora’s Christmas on CD, featuring 16 holiday songs. See? Christmassier!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hitting DVD and Blu-ray

One shall stand and one shall fall. Isn’t that always the way? I have the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen DVD and Blu-ray cases up on my shelf, and one of them always manages to fall over while the other one stays up there. That must be what Optimus Prime meant. Maybe not. Whatever the case, I’ll be able to find out later as I watch the film, which is available in both aforementioned formats today. The Paramount blockbuster sequel, which made more than $400 million in the US theaters, kicks off a whole new storyline, with the Autobots and Decepticons battling across our planet. Get hyped up with the clip below the break, detailing the mythology of the series, as well as Sam’s storyline.
