Paramount Pictures brings Iron Man, The Last Airbender, and DreamWorks hits to Globo
If you think about some of the greatest films over the past few years, especially for us toon fans, you’ll undoubtedly hit upon a number of projects from Paramount Pictures. In just 2010 alone, the studio will have released The Last Airbender, Shrek Forever After, How To Train Your Dragon, and Iron Man 2. That’s a mix of Nickelodeon’s Avatar, DreamWorks Animation, and Disney / Marvel projects for a nice, clean collection. Lucky for Brazilian animation fans, as the lot is heading to Brazil’s Globo, who recently signed a deal for the exclusive rights to the broadcast the films on Television for the next 5 years. As filming for the upcoming Captain America film gets underway, more and more bits of information are leaking through to the public. Just the other day, we got more casting information as Stanley Tucci jumps aboard the Paramount Pictures film, and now we get a sneak peek of Cap’s costume. The renders are just that – renders – but it’s a great way to envision how Chris Evans will appear in the upcoming Marvel and Disney adventure movie. M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender brings Nickelodeon’s Avatar to 3D
On July 2nd, a mere 6 weeks from now, Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures will bring The Last Airbender to the big screen. The film is M. Night Shyamalan’s live action representation of Nick’s Avatar: the Last Airbender animated series, an American anime with manga style. As an added little bonus, and largely due to the amazing success of … well… every film that has come out in the past year or so, The Last Airbender is getting the 3D treatment. The movie promises to delight on all three dimensions now, reaching out into the audience, as long as you’re wearing those neat little glasses. Marvel’s Iron Man sequel Iron Man 2 now in theaters
Paramount and Marvel are making super hero fans in the United States very happy this weekend! After already running wild for a week in locations around the globe, Iron Man 2 is now in theaters across America. The Disney-owned Marvel flick already pulled in about $140 million dollars in foreign locations, now people are expecting big things at home. Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark, the wealthy playboy whose exploits as Iron Man are now public knowledge after his admission in the first film. Now, Stark is pitted against his Russian arch nemesis, Whiplash (Mickey Rourke), and corporate rival Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell). Also making their Marvel debuts are Scarlett Johansson as Russian spy Black Widow, and Don Cheadle, who takes over the role of Colonel James Rhodes from Terrence Howard. Iron Man 2 debuts this Friday in theaters and IMAX
The clock is ticking with just days until the next Iron Man film hits theaters. Movie houses everywhere are expecting a huge influx of people on Friday May 7th, when Iron Man 2 arrives. Helping to take some of the extra traffic, IMAX screens have beefed up the number that will be showcasing the metallic Marvel super hero in his sure-to-please sequel. Directed by Jon Favreau, Iron Man 2 stars Robert Downey, Jr., Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke, Samuel L. Since we got a great look at the film in action during the Super Bowl, we’ve been truly excited to finally get to see M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender. Based on Nickelodeon’s American-made, manga-styled anime Avatar: The Last Airbender, the upcoming movie is a rich mix of live action and CG effects. Produced by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies, the film features the elemental based world of Air, Water, Earth, and Fire threaten to tear life apart until Aang discovers he is the lone Avatar, with the power to manipulate all four elements. The Last Airbender toys, Aang and other Avatar favorites
One way to instantly mark how fun a franchise is; the toys! Nickelodeon has had tremendous success with their Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series, as well as the action figures based on the manga-styled American anime cartoon. Up for grabs at this point are the toys and playsets that will be based on the upcoming film, The Last Airbender, which offers a live-action and varied take on the Nick toon. The movie, created by Paramount and M. Night Syamalan, will partner with Spin Master for the toyline, including 10 inch action figures of the main characters like Aang, Zuko, Katara, and Shokka, as well as an Appa (the flying bison) that smaller versions of the figures can fit on. There will also be versions of Aang’s staff weapon, for those looking for a new toy, or upcoming Halloween costume!
