Spidey Shoes Tingling

Spidey Shoes Tingling

Marvel Entertainment and Disney are expanding their horizons with everyone’s favorite web-headed wall-crawler, Spider-Man. In a partnership with Reebok, shoe-maker extraordinaire, Spider-Man will be gracing sneakers later this year, with the footwear available at Finish Line stores nationwide starting in the next few weeks. Disney has made it’s way to the soul (ha!) of the issue before, with sneakers featuring Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and other Disney icons, just as Ben 10 has had his own sneaker involvement in the past. No word yet on whether or not these sneakers will give you the ability to walk up the sides of buildings, or if the laces could double as webbing to swing from rooftop to rooftop, but… we doubt it. Who will star as Captain America

Who will star as Captain America

Having Christian Bale as Batman and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine now seem like such wonderful, obvious choices. However, for a time, no one knew who would be the right fit for either of those two characters. Right now, Marvel is having a similar issue with their American Patriot Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. The upcoming superhero film, to be directed by Joe Johnston, will tell the story of a young man who becomes the symbol of Liberty during World War II, and eventually a leader of the Avengers. Right now, that could be John Krasinski (Jim from the Office), Michael Cassidy (from Smallville), Patrick Flueger, Scott Porter, Wilson Bethel, Mike Vogel, and several others. With Thor and Spider-Man going through their own growing pains with casting, Marvel has it’s work cut out. Who would be your choice? (more… )

The Super Hero Squad Show season finale scores big

Last night, Cartoon Network aired the season finale to Marvel’s The Super Hero Squad Show. While reports are still early, everything seems to indicate the episode pulled in fantastic ratings, as I’m sure a number of you reading this could attest to. With the success of the finale, it’d be easy to assume the show will be back for more (and more!) seasons on Cartoon Network, starring Disney’s superhero lineup of Iron Man, the Fantastic Four, Thor, Captain America, Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine and more. What’d you think of this season? (more… )

New Superman film on the way, with Batman’s help

New Superman film on the way, with Batman's help

Batman has had two very successful films recently; The Dark Knight became one of the highest grossing films of all time. After Superman Returns, Warner Bros and DC Comics are hoping to get the Superman franchise headed in the right direction, and they’re looking to their Batfriend for help. Warner and DC have reportedly turned to Christopher Nolan, the genius behind the latest Batfilms, to mentor development of the Superfilms. Along with his brother Jonathan and David Goyer, Chris is hard at work on a third Batman film, but the group would likely be along for Superman’s new look, as well. The film would not necessarily be a sequel to Superman Returns, but maybe a completely new reboot, not unlike the new future for Spider-Man. So, what do you think? Could this work? And would it give us a Batman and Superman team up movie to look forward to? (more… )

Tobey Maguire is Spider-Man no more, series to reboot

Tobey Maguire is Spider-Man no more, series to reboot

It looks as if Tobey Maguire’s web-slinging days are behind him. Tobey, along with director Sam Raimi, will no longer be part tof the Spider-Man movie franchise, as Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios announced the upcoming films will instead focus on a younger Peter Parker, still in high school. The script, penned by James Vanderbilt, will feature an entirely new cast and film-making team, ready to hit the big screen in 2012. The reboot will start an entirely new Spidey tale, likely pitting the new WebHead in the upcoming Avengers film. (more… )

Disney and Marvel are now official

Disney and Marvel are now official

Well, the deal we’ve been talking about since last August is now official. Disney and Marvel have become BFFs, linked forever. …or at least before a newer, larger, seemingly-impossible deal takes over them both. However, until that happens, the two will be getting awfully comfy with one another. The $4.3 billion dollar acquisition brings Marvel into the Disney family, adding the comic giant’s catalog of over 5,000 characters to the Disney lineup. That includes the potentital of mixing-and-matching Wolverine and the rest of the X-men, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man with the likes of Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Buzz Lightyear, Bolt, the Princess and the Frog, and Snow White. Imagine how fun their family reunions will be!

Trouble with Spider-Man’s new film

Trouble with Spider-Man's new film

He might be a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, but that doesn’t mean everything behind-the-scenes goes as smoothly as planned. According to a few sources, the filming process on the upcoming movie, Spider-Man 4, has been placed on an “indefinite hold”. That’s not good — especially with a specific deadline ticking away!
Apparently, director Sam Raimi and Sony Pictures are disagreeing upon villains for the film; specifically, whether or not the Vulture can work his way in or not. Sam says “yay”, Sony says “nay”. And, until they can work out their differences, no one is doing anything. Why can’t it all be fun and (war) games, like with Iron Man 2? (more… )
