Toei brings Pretty Cure to Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network fans are going to get a pretty deal! …get it? “Pretty”? …eh? …because… never mind. Anyway, the toon channel recently penned a deal with Toei Animation to bring some of the legendary anime company’s shows to it’s network, starting in the Australian and New Zealand regions. Turner Entertainment Networks Asia is overseeing the progress, targeting specifically on the series. The magical girl anime metaseries debuted in 2004, and has continued with sequels and spinoffs, including Heartcatch . The story follows the adventures of two regular girls who are granted superhero powers and go up against an evil force called the Dark Zone. Check out the toon in action! (more… )

Toei Animation gets Saint Seiya, Digimon, and Dragon Ball Z to Latin America

In the field of anime, Toei is a legend. The company has single-handedly crafted dozens of globally famous toons with styling, bringing a generation into the world of animation. In it’s ongoing quest to spread toons across the the globe, Toei Animation has inked a few deals with broadcast and DVD companies within Latin America. This includes: signing with Brazil’s Bandeirantes TV and Peru’s Panamericana TV for Saint Seiya and Saint Seiya The Hades. Brazil’s Rede TV will feature Digimon Frontier, while Ecuador’s Ecuavisa and Mexico’s Televisa will get more Dragon Ball Z. Five Stars in Brazil will now own the Digimon DVD series, while Playarte gets more Saint Seiya on DVD. (more… )

Toei and Orange bring us Captain Harlock and Ken the Great Bear Fist

French fans of anime have a lot to be happy for! Orange recently with Toei Animation Europe to bring two hit animated series to their Video on Demand feature; Captain Harlock and Ken the Great Bear Fist. Captain Harlock, also known as Captain Herlock, is as noble as he is rebellious, fighting against earth-born and alien regimes. Created by artist Leiji Matsumoto for 1953′s Adventures of a Honeybee, Harlock took the lead in 1978′s Space Pirate Captain Harlock. The character has appeared in Space Pirate Captain Herlock: The Endless Odyssey, and re-imagined as an Iron Cross fighter pilot and a gunslinger in the Old West. Ken, the Great Bear Fist, also known as Fist of the North Star, is Buronson and Tetsuo Hara’s series, later serialized by Shonen Jump and Shueisha. The story centers around Kenshiro, dedicating his life to fight those who threaten the lives of the weak and innocent through his fighting style, Hokuto Shinken. Anyone a fan of either? (more… )

Toei Animation gets new Dragon Ball Z toys in Brazil

The Dragon Ball universe has had a great deal of attention lately. Just recently, Dragon Ball Z Kai was picked up to air weekdays on Nickelodeon’s Nicktoons starting May 24th. Just a few days later, TheCW4Kids announced that it would be airing Dragon Ball Z Kai during weekends starting later this fall, on the newly re-branded Saturday morning lineup Toonzai. Now, Toei Animation is ready to announce a whole series of deals connected to and anime world of DBZ. In Brazil, Algazarra and DTM have each signed on to produce a new series of action figures and toys, showcasing each of the characters. Richtex has also agreed to produce a number of bath and beach towels for the toon. Staying dry and staging fights is a pretty lethal combo, if you ask us! (more… )

Nicktoons goes Dragon Ball Z Kai crazy May 24th

Monday May 24th is D-Day for Nickelodeon watchers. Well, DBZ-day. Or, maybe DBZK-day? Whatever you want to call it, at 8pm, will be airing back to back episodes of Dragon Ball Z Kai, repeating the back-to-back mini-marathon again on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of that week. The and Toei Animation series has 99 episodes in all for its American deal, which will also be running (separately) on TheCW4Kids’ Saturday morning block starting in September of this year. Creator Akira Toriyama and Shueisha worked on the series as part of the 20th for the anime and franchise. Fans lucky enough to have already seen some episodes call it “the definitive Dragon Ball experience.” What say you? (more… )

Toei plans for the return of Sailor Moon

SailorMoon is a classic anime adventure, and remains one of the most popular toon series of all time. It has been credited as popularizing the idea of teaming magical girls, revisited in so many other series; PowerPuff Girls, Winx Club, etc. The girl team of Sailor Soldiers or Sailor Scouts can transform into heroines named for the moon and planets (Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, etc) and are destined to defender a kingdom that once spanned the solar system, using their magical powers to fight evil. Now, Toei Animation is partnering with Backstage to re-launch the anime series in Italy. New One Piece episodes set sail

The adventure is not over yet, there’s still more treasure to be had!  The super teams responsible for One Piece (, Toei Animation Co., Shueisha, Fuji Television Network) are teaming up to bring new episodes of the -based, pirate anime to the U.S. and Canada.  Beginning this Saturday, August 29th, new episodes will stream online at www.onepieceofficial.com an hour after they first appear in Japan, with new episodes to continue airing every week.
