Cartoon Network gets hyped for the Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Cosmic Destruction video game
Ben has a pretty cool gig. I mean, he’s had, what, three shows so far? Ben 10, Ben 10: Alien Force, and Ben 10: Ultimate Alien. He’s had specials, movies, live-action segments, great LEGO toys, and all kinds of products. But one of the only ways to truly get a sense of just how cool it is to live Ben Tennyson’s life is to get your hands on a Ben 10 video game. Papaya Studio, Cartoon Network, D3 Publisher, and the rest of the folks behind the latest gaming adventure, Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Cosmic Destruction, had that specific goal in mind – and it appears the goal was achieved! The game, due out in just a month, on October 5th, features 17 playable characters, including normal aliens, ultimate aliens, and Ben, himself — Fourarms and Rath will appear in special editions. Be sure to check out the trailer right here in this post, then pick the game up for whatever platform you have: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PSP, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, or Nintendo Wii. (more… )

Disney releases The Black Cauldron: 25th Anniversary Special Edition
In 1985, there was no Toy Story. There was no Finding Nemo, no Beauty and the Beast, no Incredibles, no Lion King, no Cars, no Little Mermaid. The heyday of the Disney Studio had passed into a bit of a darker time, perhaps best documented in the early parts of the Waking Sleeping Beauty documentary. However, the time was not without its stories, and Disney was still hard at work on their epics. One such dynamic creation was the Black Cauldron, the 25th theatrical animated presentation based on Lloyd Alexander’s Chronicles of Prydain book series. An evil Horned King, a demonic Black Cauldron, a world in peril, with only a handful of young-yet-noble heroes to save the day: Taran, Princess Eilonwy, Fflewddur Fflam, and Gurgi. Now, 25 years later, Disney is re-releasing the story on DVD as The Black Cauldron: 25th Anniversary Special Edition, set to hit stores on September 14th. Transformers: Prime brings Transformers Generation 1 to The Hub this October
The Transformers have been around for thousands of years, in their time. In our time, we’ve had about 30 or so. In either time frame, they’re awesome. With the two recent Transformer films doing so well in theaters, and the revival of classic toons sparking (pun!) everyone’s interest, Discovery and Hasbro decided they’d take advantage of this for their new network, The Hub, and launch an all new series, Transformers Prime. The CG toon is built in the world of generation one, when Optimus Prime did regular battle with Megatron. They’ve even gone so far as bringing back many of the original voice actors from the 1980s toon for the definitive cartoon, including: Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, Gina Torres, James Remer, Josh Keaton, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Markie Post.
