Toei and Orange bring us Captain Harlock and Ken the Great Bear Fist
French fans of anime have a lot to be happy for! Orange recently with Toei Animation Europe to bring two hit animated series to their Video on Demand feature; Captain Harlock and Ken the Great Bear Fist. Captain Harlock, also known as Captain Herlock, is as noble as he is rebellious, fighting against earth-born and alien regimes. Created by manga artist Leiji Matsumoto for 1953′s Adventures of a Honeybee, Harlock took the lead in 1978′s Space Pirate Captain Harlock. The character has appeared in Space Pirate Captain Herlock: The Endless Odyssey, and re-imagined as an Iron Cross fighter pilot and a gunslinger in the Old West. Ken, the Great Bear Fist, also known as Fist of the North Star, is Buronson and Tetsuo Hara’s manga series, later serialized by Shonen Jump and Shueisha. The story centers around Kenshiro, dedicating his life to fight those who threaten the lives of the weak and innocent through his fighting style, Hokuto Shinken. Anyone a fan of either? (more… )
