Starting this fall, TheCW4Kids is no more. In it’s place, 4Kids Entertainment is launching a re-branded programming block dubbed Toonzai. Promos have already begun airing on The CW Saturday mornings to a number of mixed reviews, largely seemingly tainted against 4Kids. Our question to you; is that fair? 4Kids has been through a number of shakeups of late, and it doesn’t have the greatest fan-pleasing history across the internet. 4Kids teases Toonzai debut on The CW4Kids

With the summer heating up through August, cartoon blocks have begun ramping up their fall premieres; new toons, new fun, and (for some) a whole new look. From FoxBox to 4Kids.tv to The CW4Kids, there have been a number of variants in the 4Kids lineup, and this year will be no different. The new block, dubbed “Toonzai”, will debut in just a few weeks, but the promos have already started to spill out! We got word of the name-swap a few months back, and are just now getting official looks at both the logo and the rumored lineup, set to include Cubix, X, TMNT Back to the Sewer, Dragon Ball Z Kai, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s, and Dinosaur King, for starters. 4Kids brings Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's: Road to Destiny around the globe

Yu-Gi-Oh! has long since become one of the most popular franchises of all time, launching first as the anime series in Japan. Since debuting in America, the phenomenon exploded, catching on as a trading card game (TCG), video games, books, posters, etc. The series even eventually broke out into sequels and other series, like Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and later Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s. Now, 4Kids Entertainment is bringing the series to more places, including RTL2 in Germany and Mediaset in Italy – both providing a home in Europe to Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s: Road to Destiny; Televix Entertainment aims to do the same in Latin America. In the US, the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s toon also returns to TheCW4Kids Saturday morning block on May 29th, as well as appearing daily on Cartoon Network. That’s some great staying power! (more… )

Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Movie Debuts in Japan

This past weekend, Japanese fans of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series (any of them!) were treated to the blockbuster event we’ve been talking about for a while now, the Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary special. The film stars all 3 stars of the franchise, Yugi Muto, Jaden Yuki, and Yusei Fudo, from Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s, respectively. The lucky fans not only had the chance to see the film, but also to get their hands on a rare promotional card, featuring Sin Red-Eyes Black Dragon. Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds to YTV

is making some bold moves to ramp up its 2009-2010 cartoon season! Amongst the biggest moves is the company signing a deal with 4Kids Entertainment to bring the latest show in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds, to its lineup. will air all episodes from the first season of the series, which, if you count all Yu-Gi-Oh! shows as one long show, would be it’s ninth season. If you haven’t caught up with the show yet, Yusei Fudo, along with his main card Stardust Dragon, leads the charge in the Turbo Duels, using his Duel Runner motorcycle as the Duel Disk.
